Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for well servicing fishing operation
   • Access, interpret and apply compliance documentation relevant to the control of oils and gas emergencies and critical situations and ensure the work activity is compliant
   • Obtain, read, confirm and apply work instructions for the allocated task
   • Identify, manage and report all potential hazards
   • Resolve coordination requirements with others at the site prior to commencing and during work activities
2. Prepare pumping and fluid systems
   • Set required pressure in relief valve to parameters
   • Prepare fluid to required volume
   • Prepare fluid to required properties
   • Record accurate current volumes
   • Ensure correct flow path (flow back to tank, flow to shaker, flow to pit, flow to flare line)
3. Monitor and maintain pressures
   • Conduct visual gauge inspections
   • Record well pressure
   • Document and record gauge reading where instructed by RM/Driller
   • Clarify required actions for overpressure or under pressure
4. Monitor and maintain flow paths
   • Clarify required actions for overpressure or under pressure
   • Recognise factors that may contribute to overpressure or under pressure
   • React accordingly to identified overpressure or under pressure
   • Notify driller of abnormal operating condition
5. Monitor and maintain well control
   • Review pressures to ensure accurate
   • Observe fluid levels (increase/loss)
   • Realign flow lines to top up hole
   • Maintain fluid level in the hole

Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete preparation for well servicing fishing operations that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements throughout work activities

demonstrates completion of preparing for well servicing fishing operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

confirming and setting required pressure in relief valves

preparing fluids to required volume and properties

confirming correct flow path is set

identifying and confirming actions for over/under pressure

monitoring fluid levels and flow lines
